We then went to Dian Coleman at Arups to discuss the structural design of the scheme. Dian told us that we needed to pin down the building better, due to the possibility of the columns splaying out, or the builing being picked up by the wind. We need to reduce the number of joints that need to be done on site, the conditions in the workshop will be more favourable to making strong accurate joints in the wood. We will also need to brace the structure in each direction.
