Geoff, our timber frame man, helped us make a prototype column-beam connection, which we hoped would convince our more skeptical structural engineer from Arup. We solved a few details in the design that had been keeping us awake at night, and FINALLY agreed on a timber structure that satisfied (albeit only just) our Arup man.
